History and Steps Forward
Khema Siri Memorial School, a private school for girls, was founded
on 1 September 1932 inside the palace of Krom Muen Divakaravongsapravati,
the ancestor of the "Kasemsri" Royal family Located at 3 Khao Road,
on the bank of the Chao Phraya River on the Bangkok side, the school
encompassed an area of over 5 rai.
The school, in fact owed its establishment to His Royal Highness,
Prince of Songkhla, King Bhumibol's father, who had personally granted
financial support to M.C. Suksrisamorn Kasemasri and M.C. Bunsrikasem
Kasemsri the first and second principals respectively, for their visits to various
educational institutions in Europe.
At its inception the school offered classes from elementary to lower
secondary level (M.3 equivalent). Finishing courses were later added as
part of its vocational curriculum, followed by teacher training courses
in 1939. The school became fully accredited in the following year 1940.
The finishing courses and teacher training program were later terminated, and
since then the school has offered a full range curriculum (12-year curriculum)
from elementary (grade 1-6 or prathom 1-6) to higher secondary level
(grade 7-12 or mathayom 1-6 ) for day and boarding students.
Since 1967, the school has stood at its current lacation on the Thonburi side of the
river at 108/1 Rajvidhi Road, with the school's area extending tio 14 rai.
This has made it possible for improvement and greater flexibility of
facilities, which include structures such as
classrooms
and swimmimg pool, as well as other instruction facilities like
computer and audio-visual aids.
